How difficult is it to put a radio button group in a word document? The button doesn't have to do anything, just fill in when selected, so when the document is printed, we can see the choice. I can find a forms tab, but I don't see a radio button option. Please note I am on a mac using 2007. This article demonstrates how you can use a Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications macro to programmatically add a control to a Microsoft Word document and add a Click event handler for that control.
Use the check box control for Yes/No values on a form or report. Add a check box control to show Yes/No values. And then click Toggle Button or Option Button. Microsoft Word: Create a Submit Form Button In this video, Neil demonstrates that you can easily attach a macro to a button, and have a document emailed to you. More Information
The following steps illustrate how you can create a Word macro that will add a control to a document and assign the Click event of that control at run-time. The steps are for Word. However, you can apply the same concepts to programmatically manipulate controls in Microsoft Excel workbooks.
Note
The ability to manipulate the Visual Basic Project of a Microsoft Office document at run-time requires a reference to the Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications Extensibility library.
Steps to create the sample
- Start a new document in Word.
- Press Alt+F11 to go to the Visual Basic Editor.
- On the Tools menu, click References.
- Select the reference for Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications Extensibility.
- Insert a new module, and then add the following code example.
- Run the macro 'Test'.
- Once the macro 'Test' finishes running, you will see a new CommandButton control on a new document. When you click the CommandButton control, the Click event of the control fires.

Typically used as a word processing program, Microsoft Word has a wide variety of text editing features. In addition to these features you may also add images and other objects, such as controls to create interactive surveys. Form tools include check boxes and list boxes, as well as radio button. Using the radio buttons in Microsoft Word surveys, you provide users with the opportunity to select a response from pre-formatted options.
1.Click once in an area of the Word document to which you want to add the radio button. Click the “Developer” tab and find the “Controls” section.
2.Click the “Design Mode” button, which will display a list of available features. Click the “Lagacy Tools” button, which will display a list of forms tools. Click the “Radio Button” icon, which will insert a radio button into the Word document.
3.Right click the radio button, highlight the “OptionButton Object” and select the “Edit” option, which will enable you to edit the radio button. Type over any text in the field to edit it, as necessary. Click the small black squares surrounding the radio button and drag to a desired size while holding down the mouse button.
